The Power of “Matey”

LOVE, why does this emotion exist? Imagine, how would be our life if there were no emotions? No love, no sorrows, no joys, no hatred, what would the world be like? This question is always on my mind whenever I see emotions on peoples face. I have met many people within these 19 years of living. And one of the girls life experience made me believe that emotions are important in life.

26th September 1995, her birthdate God knows! Here’s my answer for why I chose her. Maybe because she requests her friends including me with an energetic, bubbling, stupid, innocent smile for a movie Like saying “Oye sun na Bajrangi Bhaijan herna jam na Salman Khan ko please”, maybe because she cries on very small things like why did my best friend not tell me her secret and it was revealed from third person, maybe because she gets angry when the most trustworthy person lies, may be because she shares her family issues with me on the college balcony, maybe because we hangout on different coffee shops, restaurant and talk hours about life and how maturely she puts her opinion. One thing is for sure, she taught me these emotions are what complete our life or else you’re a living dead. But there was more, something unexpected. The secret of power was the reason why we need emotions?

How does it feel when someone who loved you unconditionally “The Beautiful Woman” and suddenly you lose them? Especially, the one who brings you in this beautiful world? Time! It never stops. Billions of people won’t stop to live their life yet it affects that girl because that beautiful woman was her entire world. This is why I thought there shouldn't be any emotions so that we won’t ever get affected but I was wrong. There was already a surprise to her; that beautiful woman not only gave her life but she also gave some magical powers during her birth.

The power was unleashed when she became 19 years old. Maybe the power chose the right time. That power which makes you strongest human on this earth. The power to make friends who bet their life for her innocence, the power to know her strength and weakness, the power to find a way to her dreams, the power to have a positive attitude and conquer this world, the power to battle every huddles that people bring to her, the power to love her closet one, the power to make others happy, the power to be an inspiration for many young girls, the power of knowing right and wrong, the power to live her life to the fullest, the power to observe things and learn, experience situations and finally the power of satisfaction.

August 4, 2015, a day when she unleashed her tremendous power and made me realize that one day everyone is going to recognize her. A day marked in my history book, when that beautiful woman trusted and gave her all those powers. I was lucky enough to encounter an angel that beautiful woman lying in the bed of hospital was an angel. Along with the power there was a love reflected from her every body parts. Just like the ray of lights coming from her body. Might be the power was trying to go somewhere.

I know life is a cycle. Time goes but time comes too. After sometime, the brightness was gone. That angel was gone but she’s there somewhere in this world. World needs such power. Everyone has a beautiful woman in their life, they are a pure angel. People gave those angels various name, like mother, sister, wife, Girlfriend etc. Everyone is lucky because they have a life; they have a power of an angel. And once you’re capable to use that power, angel needs to find some people or living beings that are in need of such power. It is just some people are capable to use it in their early age or some needs some more time. That’s a duty of an angel to stay until living beings are capable to use it.
Had I never encountered with that angel may be I’d be always wrong in my answers. Now, I know we need emotions to be strong, to unleash that power. Since It’s a cycle, I’d be an angel too one day. Every beautiful woman who gives life will be an angel one day. Now I knew my answer. “THE POWER OF MATEY”

What my heart said…

My journey with Amnesty International Nepal- Nepal Youth Network since one and half year has changed me a lot. I emceed in different events organized by NYN and it has really boosted me to build more confidence.

Today, Prashamsha and I gave the presentation on ‘Street Harassment’ which was held at Himalayan white House College after the successful program at King’s college which was held on April 3. Whenever I need to speak, I always speak from my heart. Honesty is the best policy, isn’t it? I know the program started lately, OMG technical problem was a really horrible situation. Apekshya di and I were so worried that we’re like what the hell is happening today. It means we’re poor at management. It’s a learning process and no matter how many times we fall, I know my NYN team is ready to stand up and will try not to repeat this mistake again.

The best thing was it started as a formal program but during the mid-session I felt like; I was speaking in front of my family. I have jotted down the best part that I felt during the program.
MS Asmita Verma (President of Maryada Nepal): I was always inspired from her post on Facebook. We’re friends on Facebook but we had never talked before. Today I got an opportunity to meet her. She’s an inspiration to many youth that’s what I believe. A girl who is just 3 years elder than me and has done a lot. This again motivated me to do more and more. Thank you Asmita di! I was grateful to have you on today’s program as a guest. It would be my pleasure to work with you for a change of our nation. Keep on inspiring di.

Priyanka Pokhrel (MC): Priyanka, I still remember how you said,” Nita I’ll do MC” and see you did it. No one is perfect in this world but the thing is we need to give our best not to repeat the mistake and I believe that is how we grow. You made me to write this today. You know why? Because after every audience appreciated our presentation, you’re the one to salute in front of that mass and that moment made me proud to say NYN is a family. I don’t know about the future but till this date I can say NYN is a family, the best team that will help you to grow. To have a friend like you and the guts you showed today made the strong bond. Keep growing, keep growing! I’ll always support you, if that helps you to grow positively. All the best for your future!

Sakshi Manot (Managing Director) and Aslesha Pant: Sakshi when you posted a picture after I said which was of 1st phase of this workshop you remember right? What I said? Your voice was amazing. Why on earth did I forget to record that? But you’re always there for me. I know that and your support means a lot to me. Thank you for being an amazing friend and the thing I want to say to you is, life goes on and I might be with you on your special occasion but remember if I can help you ever in this life time, whatever I can I’ll. You’re growing and you have a very good future. Go ahead! NYN has become a family right?

Aslesha, My friend, we both love listening GNR. You know what, Ice breaking game, I used to do that and still I do but when I see two of my friends doing the same makes me feel so special. The way you handled this session was awesome. Working with team is great, Working with friends is greater but when you work with family it’s the greatest one. NYN is a platform for us to change, to grow and let each other grow on their passion/dreams.

I believe you both have learned that it’s hard to handle an event. Even I’m not perfect but that’s what I learned today. Let’s work together, let’s bring change, and let’s help each other to grow. Being a management student, this is what I learned today.

Prashamsha (My presenter Partner): Honey! We did it. We used to talk in class and always wanted to change this culture. In front of the mass of 50-55 at least we shared our dreams/vision with them. Even if one people tried to be the change that would be the happiest moment for us, isn’t it? I’m happy you’re with me and we worked together to bring humanity.

Apekshya Niraula (Founder coordinator of NYN): This moment would have been impossible without you di. How did I meet you? Remember on that Rangoli Competition?  How we started talking and we went for a sister zone. There were tears on my eyes when we chatted and how far we have come. Feels so great di! You are the one whom I always treat like a sister. Yes, we’ll grow and help each other to grow. Thank you! Being a member of NYN is a proud thing for me.
And thank you all the participants for being with us. It’d have been impossible without your support. Thank you!

So my bottom line is, we’re a family and we must help each other to grow. We need to believe in humanity and we must have humanity to become a human. Today was a memorable day for me and will always remember this moment in my life time.

There are things that we must improve and we’ll. Nepali ma cha ni,” Hindney manchey ladcha” but you know what hindney manchey if kunai destination ma jana chahancha bhaney tyo uthcha ani josley j sukai bhaney pani kailey haresh khana.” Hami ni hindney manchey haun and we’ll never give up on things we want to do. The power of not giving up will definitely take us to the height. Imagine the day we all are success on our dreams and talk about this one day. We need each other don’t we? Let’s be together on each other dream and support each other to the extent we can. That is how we can have satisfaction in life. This is what NYN has taught me.

Will passion make you alive again?

14th march-2015, I reached home at 7:45 PM. Being a girl in such a male dominated society it’s obvious to be asked,” Eti belka samma kaa gathis?” I replied,” Mummy ma aja YUWA ko program ma gathey ani tespachi anamnagar gaye euta kaam le.” That work was related with my passion. It was the usual routine of my parents to ask where I had been whenever I arrived home late. But today it was different. That one joke my relative made, made me more dedicated towards my passion.

I always wanted to host programs (especially informal programs). I still remember that first day when I hosted “Earth day” program at king’s college. I was totally shivering even to hold the Mic. Due to nervousness I spelled the name of the guest wrong for two times. I even forgot the name of one of own teacher from King’s college. I apologized saying sorry for three times. I was totally blank but anyhow I ended the show. Even that situation made me to keep the Mic aside and host as if I was giving a presentation in class. After the program, I never thought I’d host any program in my life again but there was one of my best friend and my mentors of king’s college to support me. I don’t know what he saw in me after such mistake but again he told me to host another show which was “Rangoli competition”.

Day by day, I fell in love with emceeing. I got to host programs in different events organized by Amnesty International Nepal, Nepal youth Network, Inauguration of King’s public speaking club, on the spot MC during the promotion of “Mukhauta movie”, launch ceremony of Glocal Khabar where Mr. Paras Khadka was invited as a guest, King’s Royal valentine Eve 2015 which was sponsored by LG, I was able to host. I know every time I made different mistakes but i always gave my best to minimize those mistakes and made another mistake so that I can learn more and be better than yesterday. Since I’m #traventurefreak, I would love to host a travel show like “Ghum gham” of Mr. Bhushan Dahal, Programs that we can watch in TLC, FOX HISTORY. I would love to explore different places and see every nook and corner of this beautiful world. For this dream today I came up with an idea while I was in a micro bus today. To enhance my skill, to learn and experience more no matter what I’ll follow my passion.

Suddenly, my mom shared those talks of relative with me. When one of my relative cracked a joke in front of my parents saying,” Timro chori le ta jagir khana thaleko re ni ho? Kati kamaunchey chori le?” It made me go crazy. Obviously, I felt bad. But that generated the stronger energy to do more. Today I realized, passion is something you can’t live without. No incentive in this world will attract you to work on your passion. Yes, I have made lots and lots of mistake when I have hosted programs but I’ll never give up. I’ll always give my best to be better than yesterday. I’ll go under many embarrassing situations, I’ll take that pain when someone makes fun of my passion, and I’ll challenge it with my every little step. Even there is no one to support me; either it may be my relatives, my own family, and my friends I’ll keep going. I’ll make mistakes and learn. Responsibility? I know them and they’ll never act as a demotivating factor for my passion. It’s my duty.  No, I don’t want to prove them but will obviously try to make them realize what happens if you make joke of someone’s passion.

Thank you for providing me such energy to do more for my passion. Thank you for all those compliments and feedbacks, every time after the end of program whenever I hosted. There are some people who still believe me and my dream. They feel I can do more and they never stops supporting me. Thank you!!! Crazy me! For the first time my passion made my eyes watery.

A positive change...

After watching this interview, Not only in this case, Before reaching to any conclusion we need to know what is the main cause. We have right to speak doesn't mean we just analyze the case from our perception. These panel discussion between the documentary maker of India's daughter
Leslee Udwin, Indian politician(BJP), social activist Kiran Bedi,Indian lawyer designated as a senior advocate and a politician (BJP) Pinky Anand, National secretary of BJP Vani Tripathi followed by Nirbhaya's parents should be watched by all who give any results or conclusion on case like this.
I'm a 18 years old girl from Nepal and I've reached to a conclusion," Every people on this globe should change their mentality positively to advocate on any case, to bring peace and not only give their perception but analyze the situation from it's root level. No matter if they are from High officials level, law makers, victims, culprits everyone is responsible to bring change positively. This earth is our home, lets be a family, lets bring peace."

BBC documentary Nirbhaya's Indian daughter

And I wrote an article nearly two months ago with the related case.

Khyati Shrestha, a 19 year old girl was raped, not only once but again and again and at last she was murdered. The post-mortem report showed that she was beaten to death by a rod. One of my friends Prashamsha gave a presentation on Khyati’s case at the #PresentationStuffs program held at Edushala. After her presentation, some of the audience cried, some held their opinion. For a couple of days, some may remember Prashamsha’s words but then as time passes these issues will fade.

Another international case 2012 (Delhi Gang rape) - a 23 year old girl was beaten and gang raped in a private bus in which she was travelling with a male friend. There were six others in the bus, including the driver, all of whom raped the girl and beat her friend. She died from the injuries thirteen days later while undergoing emergency treatment in Singapore. This issue generated national as well as international media coverage. The news caused me to shiver.

These are just two examples, where people forget humanity. There are lots and lots of cases like these. Just a few days ago, my female friend was walking on a road early morning around 6AM. As usual she was waiting for a microbus for her college but a guy stopped his bike in front of her and told her that he would drop her. At first she refused but when she found that he was her school friend, she got on his bike. An innocent girl trusted a guy. Again, the next morning that guy called her. She was scared, shivering and blank. When she was out of her house for the college, there was that guy in a car. He came out of his car pulled the hand of her. She was being harassed. At this point how can a girl trust or believe that the guy was helping her as she was late for her college. She was helpless. She could have slapped but she was afraid of this society, the culture we are following.

A female’s body is their prized possession and no man has got the right to touch it without her permission. We live in a society where women are still undermined and objectified and treated like trash. How can a woman ever be safe in such societies? Harassment does not necessarily need to be physical. Trust me even the stares of some men are so crude and absurd it makes you feel downright vulnerable and unsafe.

With a little bit of courage, I’m writing this just if it brings some changes in our culture where we can find humanity inside everyone. Harming others, violence is always a great issue and as I said earlier they fade like fog gradually. Don’t we want our sisters to live a life? Aren’t they humans? Are they dolls? What if we set a culture where everyone could speak about their right and no one judges them? Isn’t this possible? Let’s not just be poor excuse for a human and have some humanity!

Being boyish girl

I was single child for my family till I was seven years old. I don’t know what culture my Mom and dad gave me those seven years but people say my behavior, attitude are like that of a boy.

During my childhood, my dad never bought me those Barbie dolls, huge teddy bears rather I used to play with guns, cars, bike and some mathematical toys. I used to feel jealous when all girls used to be in a group and play while I would be the only girl to play with boys. I was in love to watch “Sonpari”, “Shaka laka Boom Boom” just like other girls. Oh my gosh! I used to manage time even to watch wrestling. Johncena, Undertaker and a female wrestler Lita were my favorites. I still remember that day when I played arm wrestling with a boy named Ravi and I won. I think I was in class 2 or 3. Wow! I was the only girl who won in arm wrestling that was such a proud moment for me.

Yes, I listen to Guns and roses, Metallica and different other bands. Being a girl doesn't mean I need to go for those stupid Hindi songs, or some love songs of Taylor swift. Everyone have their own taste for music. Hmmm! Let me say you one thing. I can see my friends who don’t even know how to cook food but honey my mom and dad taught me to cook food so that I could never be hungry in life. You said, didn’t you? A girl should know how to cook.

I can see girls around me wearing high heels and short skirts, one piece, lots of makeups but I’m comfortable with a cool t-shirt or check shirt, a black choose pant and converse. Being comfortable in your outfits is how you can have your own style. Being a girl, I don’t think I should mandatorily wear one piece or girly stuffs.
I don’t want to cry on small stuffs like girls are known for crying over. Are you jealous of me that you don’t have a strong Girlfriend or sister like me? Pity on you! Call me a boy I don’t care. But keep in mind I’m a strong girl not like a boy. You are a looser for not having sisters or girlfriend like me. I’m sorry to say but I’m proud of my parents that they taught be to act strong on different circumstances rather than crying in front of a boy. Yes I obviously cry when my beloved ones are in trouble or when I lose. I don’t like to show my tears in-order to get sympathy from a boy rather I go to a washroom and cry for hours.

I love travelling, adventurous stuffs, fictional movies, the vampire diaries. Say anything, but I’ll still listen to my favorite bands. Yes, I love to meet different new people and talk with them. Yes, I don’t even know how to wear a saree, Yes, I hate jewelries and girly ornaments, I loathe crying in front of a guy, one piece, short skirts and high heels I’m not comfortable with them. I’m a simple girl trying to seek satisfaction in life rather than showing off. I’m a strong girl.

Don’t make an excuse for not having me in your life.  Are you Jealous? I’ll pray that your daughter once gets told by someone,” Your behavior, attitude is like a boy.” Don’t be ashamed. One day you will be proud of your daughter.

Rose from a stranger!!!

How can one and a half year of memories be held by a rose? But it did. It did for her. she had a red rose in her hands for the first time.

When he gave her a rose through others' hand, there was a moment. A moment, for couple of seconds it made her shocked, her eyes were full of tears. That pain that was welling up inside her for one and half year washed away. The girl who delivered her the flower said,"He loves you and it's a gift from him". No, she didn’t want it to be a fairytale. She just wanted to capture that second forever but everything collapsed like a dark wind. She shouldn’t have told her that he loved her.

She still lives in that second, remembering if it was for real. Yeah, when I saw her for the first time, she was a princess. Her castle was a wonderland. I went to her room and my eyes fell on a diary which was on the table. Inside the diary there was a blue note, a thank you note. It was preserved so well, in such a way that no one for centuries would dare to tear it. I wonder who might have written that note that she preserves with a magic spell and only a pure human soul can see it.

She’s a princess of her kingdom and her people loved her so much that she was never in need of love from a stranger. She might have married to a prince but no she chose a stranger to give her whole soul. That stranger is lucky one, isn’t it? She was so much in love with a stranger that every morning she takes his name and smiles. When the sun rises, she wants to see his face and start her day and when the sun sets, she want to fall in his arm. She knows it won’t end like a Twilight love story of “Edward and Bella” neither it would end like a “Cinderella” nor it would end like the story of “Snow White”. She doesn’t even want to kiss a damn frog to get that stranger. I know her she would rather end up like the story of Christian and Anastasia of “Fifty Shades Of Grey”. How can someone love so deeply that even a single word from that someone makes their day? Isn’t that crazy? Love is blind, they say. I think it is. I’d never thought my princess lady would love a stranger so blindly and even her story is hard for me to express in words.

P.S: Fifty shades of grey still buffering. Can I have high speed internet at my home? Hmmm! A rose from a stranger!!!

Lets try to percieve positively!

“Perception” is my all-time favorite topic to research. Every day when I wake up in the morning, my goal is to perceive things from different dimensions.

Today, I found a video on YouTube,” Limits Of Perception” where I learned a quote of Albert Einstein. “It is entirely possible that behind the perception of our senses, world are hidden of which we are unaware.” It’s true. We humans experience our day to day life by our five senses and we do perceive things differently. But we mostly perceive by seeing things that happen around us.

Writing about such a big word can turn to be a debate. Today science has expanded our horizon. We can see a bizarre world of small atoms, molecules through electron microscope where as there is a telescope to look beyond earth, galaxy. Though science expanded our horizon yet there is no such process for perceiving things in the same way another people do. It differs from person to person. A black wall might be nothing for a person yet can be canvas for other.

Our five senses, culture, age, gender force us to perceive things. To perceive means to become aware, to come to a realization or understanding; it is the way we see. But then perception always cannot be true. Is it because our perception is influenced by others attitude, the way they are presented to us, their habits? Why the perceptions we make don’t become reality? A simple example, a year ago at my first semester of bachelors I made a wrong perception on a guy, I thought he was just a bookworm, there is no life rather than studying and getting good grades but eventually as time passed on I came to know he’s an adventurous and a very interesting guy.

Whether we are an optimist, a pessimist, a realist or an idealist these factors makes a huge impact in the process of perceiving. It’s up to us on how to analyze the situation. What matters to us in our life? The way we live in the society, our age, gender, culture, circumstances we face are the main reason why we are different and why we perceive things differently.

Perceiving things let us know about who we are, what we want in our life and what we need to do. But we should keep in mind that there are people to perceive us every time. It might bring a disaster or make our life beautiful. It’s up to us. Sometimes we are pretty good at fooling ourselves by our perception but let’s try to perceive things in positive way.
